• Where Do I Find My Downloads On A Mac

Mar 23, 2021 If Firefox or Safari managed the download, check the Downloads window for the location of your downloaded files: Firefox: Choose Tools Downloads, or press Ctrl+J (Windows) or Command+J (Mac OS). Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac OS) the downloaded file, and choose Open Containing Folder (Windows) or Show in Finder (Mac OS).

• We're now downloading Dropbox. When your download is complete, run the Dropbox installer.
• If your missing device can’t connect to the internet, the Find My app can still help you track it down using the Find My network — hundreds of millions of iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices around the world. Nearby devices securely send the location of your missing device to iCloud, then you can see where it is in the Find My app.

Download music, PDFs, software, and other items by clicking links on webpages.

Important: If a download contains software, an alert appears when you open the item. To be safe, don’t open it if you weren’t expecting a software program or if it’s not from a trusted source.

Download an item

1. In the Safari app on your Mac, click anything identified as a download link, or Control-click an image or other object on the page.

2. Choose Download Linked File. (Some webpage items can’t be downloaded.)

   Safari decompresses files such as .zip files after it downloads them.

   Note: If you download an item that you previously downloaded, Safari removes the older duplicate so it doesn’t take up space on your Mac. See Optimize storage space on your Mac.

See items you downloaded

1. In the Safari app on your Mac, click the Show Downloads button near the top-right corner of the Safari window.

   The button isn’t shown if the downloads list is empty.

2. Do any of the following:

   • Pause a download: Click the Stop button to the right of the filename in the downloads list. To resume, click the Resume button .

   • Find a downloaded item on your Mac: Click the magnifying glass next to the filename in the downloads list. If you move a file or change the download location after downloading it, Safari can’t find the file.

     Tip: To change where downloaded items are saved on your Mac, choose Safari > Preferences, click General, then click the “File download location” pop-up menu and choose a location.

   • Clear the downloads list: In the downloads list, click Clear. To remove one item, Control-click it, then choose Remove From List.

     By default, Safari automatically removes an item after one day. To change when items are automatically removed, choose Safari > Preferences, click General, then click the “Remove download list items” pop-up menu and choose an option.

My Downloads

If you set up Find My for your missing Mac

1. Open Find My.
   • In the Find My app on another Apple device, select the Devices tab.
   • On the web, sign in to iCloud.com/find, then click All Devices.
2. Select your Mac to view its location on a map. If your Mac isn't listed, learn how you can still protect your account.
3. If your Mac is nearby, you can have it play a sound to help you or someone nearby find it.
   
4. Remotely lock your Mac with a passcode to help prevent unauthorized access. Tap Activate under Mark As Lost in the Find My app, or select Lock on iCloud.com. You can display a custom message with your phone number on your missing device's Lock screen in case someone finds your Mac.
   You can still track your device's location while it's locked as long as it's connected to the internet. If it's offline, the actions take effect the next time your Mac is online.
   
5. Report your lost or stolen Mac to local law enforcement. Law enforcement might request the serial number of your Mac. Find your device serial number.
6. If you don't think you can recover your missing Mac, you can erase it remotely. This deletes all of your data from your Mac and prevents anyone else from accessing that information. When you erase your Mac, all of your information is deleted from the device, and you won't be able to find it using Find My.
   
7. Remove your lost or stolen Mac from your list of trusted devices.

If you can't find your Mac or didn't set up Find My

Find My Mac is the only Apple service that can help track or locate a lost Mac. If you didn’t set up Find My Mac before your Mac was lost, or you can’t locate it, these steps might help you protect your data:

1. Change your Apple ID password to prevent anyone from accessing your iCloud data or using other services (such as iMessage or iTunes) from your Mac.
2. Change your passwords for other accounts you use with your Mac, including email, banking, and social media sites like Facebook or Twitter.
3. Report your lost or stolen Mac to local law enforcement. They might request the serial number of your computer. You can find this information on the original box or receipt you received when you purchased your Mac.

If you can't unlock your Mac

After you locate your Mac, you can unlock it by entering the passcode that you created when you locked it with Find My.

If you can't remember that passcode, you have three options:

• Sign in to iCloud.com/find, then select your Mac from the Devices menu. Select Unlock and follow the steps to verify your identity.
• Unlock your Mac from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple Watch using your device passcode.
• Take your Mac to an Apple Authorized Service Provider along with your proof of purchase.
