Apple today launched its annual 'Back to School' promotion in the United States and Canada. After five years of offering free Beats, Apple this year is offering free AirPods with the purchase of.
Apple has now revealed its back to school promotion, where students can get perks if they buy a new Apple product.
Like last year, the perk is a free pair of Beats headphones for those why buy a new Mac or iPad Pro. The offer goes live July 12 and will be available until Sept. 25. As is the case with previous back-to-school promotions, the deal is mostly geared for college students, although college faculty and K-12 school faculty are also eligible.
Apple Unveils Back To School Promotion
Buying a new iMac Pro, iMac, MacBook Pro, MacBook, Mac Pro, or MacBook Air will get users either a free pair of Beats Solo 3 Wireless headphones, Powerbeats 3, or Beats X. As usual, the Mac mini is excluded from the list of eligible Macs, probably because it hasn't been updated for quite some time. Rumors say Apple is planning a refresh, though. In fact, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests every single product in the Apple lineup, save for the iPod touch, will get an upgrade soon.
iPad Pro buyers, meanwhile, are a little bit limited in their choice of free Beats, with the option of either Powerbeats 3 or Beats X, but they can pay an additional $100 to get the Solo3 Wireless headphones. Like last year, the sixth-generation iPad and iPad mini 4 are excluded from this promotion.
Apple Will Verify If You're Really In College, Though
Just note that Apple requires verification of eligibility upon checkout, meaning it will confirm if the user is really enrolled in college. The promotion isn't limited to students, though. As mentioned, teachers, faculty, and parents can also get a free pair of Beats headphones for every purchase of the aforementioned Mac and iPad Pro models. The verification process will be done via UNiDAYS.
The promotion is available through Apple's online store, but customers may also go directly to brick-and-mortar retail outlets to get their free headphones. Alternatively, students can visit authorized campus stores or call 1-800-MY-APPLE. The full terms and conditions are available on Apple's website.
Participating countries include Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates.
